Trading Venue Heads See Fragmentation Ahead

As the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) works to implement the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act by July 2011, the presence of numerous futures and options brokerages could result in further fragmentation as the regulation pushes them to operate electronically, according to Jeff Sprecher, chairman and CEO of the IntercontinentalExchange (ICE), who spoke at the Futures Industry Association's (FIA's) annual conference in Chicago this week.
