Describe Erik Dralans in a few words and you could do worse than "industry veteran." In 1972, after joining one of ING's many predecessor companies, Belgian bank Banque Bruxelles Lambert (BBL), Dralans spent years in the corporate banking and corporate treasury businesses of the bank. He spent much of that time abroad in the bank's offices in Japan, Singapore, New York and Luxembourg.

Dralans made the move to operations and IT in 1997—his first technology role. According to Dralans, the move was
