McGovern to Lead BBH’s Recently Unveiled Fintech Business

Brown Brothers Harriman has appointed Michael McGovern as head of the firm’s Investor Services business unit, comprising middle-office services, Infomediary, and software-as-a-service technology aimed at buy-side firms and other capital markets participants.

McGovern’s installation reflects a move across the industry where firms are looking to sweat their existing technologies and platforms with the view to productizing them, and by so doing, create new, recurring revenue streams. BBH’s move is by no means unique, although it is significant in the sense that apparently the firm now sees itself as a multi-faceted, digital organization as opposed to a traditional financial services provider.
