Back-office automation key to breaking open private markets

Trading in large, privately-held stocks has hitherto been the domain of large private equity investors. A new technology platform aims to make these markets more accessible to broker-dealers by integrating with the back-office processes that firms already use to trade public equity markets.

​While public stock markets generally grab the headlines, investing in privately-held companies is growing faster than public marketplaces. Crowdfunding, angel investing, increased retail participation and sophistication, and a desire by institutional and retail investors alike to gain exposure to companies earlier along their growth curve, before they go public, are all contributing factors.

But there’s one segment of the private markets that has historically excluded all these investor groups
