Bloomberg Lays Plans To Rank Stock Analysts, Tracking Post-Recommendation Performance

Bloomberg L.P. last month approached members of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School about a joint effort to rank equities investment analysts.

Sounds like the Institutional Investor's All-America Research Team. But unlike that magazine's personality-tainted rankings -- which rely on opinions solicited from the investment community -- the Bloomberg/Wharton project would track buy and sell recommendations and judge analysts on the basis of the subsequent performance of the stocks.
