Carmignac taps Abdellah Bouziane as global head of compliance

Asset manager Carmignac has appointed Abdellah Bouziane as global head of compliance.

In the new role, Bouziane will play a key role in strategic initiatives in favor of client servicing and will lead the compliance function in all seven European countries in which Carmignac operates.

Before joining Carmignac, Bouziane spent 13 years with AXA Investment Managers in various senior compliance roles, including head of compliance for the UK subsidiary and for the Asia-Pacific region. Bouziane began his career in 2003 as an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers and he also holds a Master’s degree in Economy and Law of Banking and Finance.

Kavitha Venkita to lead cybersecurity and technology risk team at ACA Compliance Group

ACA Compliance Group has appointed Kavitha Venkita to lead ACA Aponix, the firm’s dedicated global cybersecurity and technology risk advisory team.

She will oversee all aspects of the business, including cybersecurity advisory, cyber and technology risk diligence for financial sponsors and corporates, and vendor management.  

ACA Aponix was founded by the firm’s chief innovation officer, Raj Bakhru, and Marc Lotti, and acquired by ACA in 2015. The ACA Aponix management team will report directly to Venkita.

Venkita previously held roles in strategy consulting and at Gartner/CEB, where she built and led the global IT and government practices. 

Christine Short joins Wall Street Horizon

Events data provider Wall Street Horizon has appointed Christine Short VP of research, tasked with expanding the vendor’s marketing and client outreach.

Short was previously VP of market research at analyst ratings provider TipRanks, prior to which she was a marketing and media consultant at Adaptive Management, and served as SVP of media, PR and marketing at crowd-sourced earnings estimates provider Estimize. Before that, she was director for Global Markets Intelligence at S&P Capital IQ, where she spent three years, was director of earnings research at Thomson Reuters, and was assistant editor for Thomson Proprietary Research at Thomson Financial.

Based in New York, she reports to WSH founder and CEO Barry Star.

Broadridge announces Germán Soto Sanchez as head of corporate strategy

Broadridge has announced the appointment of Germán Soto Sanchez as senior vice president of corporate strategy. 

Most recently, Sanchez served as president and a member of the board of directors for Cloud9 Technologies, LLC, a cloud-based communications and analytics platform for the trader voice industry. He was responsible for Cloud9’s data business and managed and led all aspects of Cloud9’s strategic partnerships, capital raising, investor relations, legal and marketing while actively engaging in product and development. Prior to Cloud9, he served as executive director and leader of JPMorgan Chase’s Corporate and Investment Bank FinTech team and has also held key roles at Certus Holdings, AIC Private Equity, McKinsey and Bain.

He received his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.

He joins Broadridge as Michael Tae, his predecessor who served in the role since 2017, transitions into a new position as chief transformation officer for its Investor Communication Solutions business.

Baton Systems appoints Phil Corryn as director of sales, North America 

Baton Systems, a provider of post-trade systems for capital markets, has named Phil Corryn as its director of sales for North America.

He will be responsible for driving revenue in North America with an initial focus on the major banks and their clearing entities.

Prior to joining Baton, Phil was senior vice president, sales at FinTech Studios, an AI-based SaaS market intelligence and regulatory solution start-up. Before that, he was head of America sales at Asset Control, where he was responsible for driving new revenue for enterprise data management solutions across the Americas. He also held various senior positions with Bloomberg, GoldenSource Corporation and SunGard.

At Baton Systems, Corryn will report directly to the firm’s head of global sales and EMEA, Alex Knight.

Peter Wallqvist joins Leading Point as chief product officer

Leading Point has hired Peter Wallqvist as chief product officer and investor. He joins Leading Point to help the business scale their products and support the launch of their regtech and ESG solutions on their modellr platform.

In the new role, Wallqvist will help Leading Point with its product roadmap, go-to-market strategy, and internationalization.

Wallqvist was the co-founder and CEO of RAVN Systems. After RAVN was bought in 2017 by the US-based document management solutions provider iManage, he acted as its VP of strategy and global practice director. Prior to that, he delivered high-profile data-tech projects in the US and Europe for blue-chip companies including Bloomberg, BT and GSK.

AccessFintech makes senior hires

AccessFintech has announced the appointment of Paynter Higgins as executive vice president for global enterprise sales and Sarah Lloyd Parry as executive vice president for marketing.

In the new role, Higgins will develop and manage the sales team and will be responsible for the strategy and execution of enterprise sales globally. Most recently he served as vice president, enterprise sales at Collibra. Paynter spent over eight years at SuccessFactors in the US and Europe, which was acquired by SAP.  He has also worked at PeopleSoft and Procore, as well as early-stage start-ups Moore Technology Solutions and Encore Development.

Parry will lead overall corporate marketing and brand strategy. Before joining AccessFintech, she was chief marketing officer for Avora. Prior to that, she built the EMEA Marketing team and regional presence at ServiceMax, including the marketing integration following the acquisition by GE Digital for $1 billion in January 2017. Previously, Sarah grew the SuccessFactors EMEA marketing operations over four years, including the EMEA marketing integration of SAP’s for $3.4 billion.
