Eagle Alpha Swoops on Data Vet Richards

The 35-year industry veteran will advise the vendor on product, strategy and business development.

Social media analytics and alternative data provider Eagle Alpha has named data industry veteran Dale Richards to its board of directors, to advise the vendor on areas such as product roadmap, business development, and strategy.

Richards currently runs Island 20 Ventures, an advisory firm focusing on data and technology, and has also served on the board of alternative data marketplace Quandl, and has held senior positions within the data industry over a 35-year career, including US president of First Derivatives, which acquired his enterprise data management consultancy LakeFront Data Ventures in 2010, and president of EDM at SunGard, which acquired Fame Information Services, where he was president and CEO.

Before that, Richards was founder and CEO of data, analytics and software integration provider Benton Associates, prior to which he spent a decade in sales and product roles at Algorithmics, Reuters, Interactive Data, and IP Sharp Associates.
