Data Vet Ikel Joins 3di, Resigns from IPUG
Former BNP Paribas market data manager John Ikel named head of data compliance and licensing at 3di
Following his appointment, Ikel has also resigned from the executive committee of UK market data industry association the Information Providers User Group (IPUG), a role he held since 2010. As 3di is a vendor and not one of the 54 IPUG member firms, his new position renders him ineligible to continue as part of the organization’s set-up.
Prior to joining 3di, Ikel spent more than seven years at BNP Paribas, most recently as global head of market data compliance and audit, in which he was responsible for market data compliance across the firm. The role included the management of market data usage by internal systems and end-users, as well as management of both internal and third-party external market data audits. Prior to joining BNP Paribas, he also held market data compliance roles at Commerzbank. Ikel began his career at Credit Suisse First Boston as a PC support analyst.
In his new role as head of data compliance and licensing at 3di, he will take over the development of compliance and policies aspects of 3di’s Profiler and Data Compliance and Dependency Manager (DCDM) data compliance tool. Ikel will also lead the firm’s consulting teams in data governance engagements and will assist in the rollout of the company’s July release of the Profiler tool, which includes a new module on exchange and trading venue policies.
“I have been aware of 3di’s outstanding competency and successful client engagements in the industry for over a decade. Having reviewed their products and plans, I am enthusiastic and optimistic to join a group of enlightened and dynamic professionals for the next stage of its development,” says Ikel in a statement.
Janelle Veasey, director and co-founder of 3di, adds that “as part of a natural restructuring required due to the company’s continued growth and success, we have brought John onboard to add the wealth of his experience in leading our regtech practice to the next level.”
Ikel is based in London and reports directly to Veasey.
