SS&C's acquisition of Advent has turned it into one of the industry's foremost buy-side technology shops.

Acquisitions in the fintech space have a habit of not delivering the anticipated benefits.

Perhaps what is noteworthy about SS&C's latest move, however, is the firm it has acquired ─ San Francisco-based Advent Software, a buy-side household name if ever there was one, and winner of multiple Buy-Side Technology Awards over the years (including the best buy-side technology provider of the year in the inaugural awards in 2007), by virtue of its Moxy, Geneva, and Advent Portfolio Exchange (APX) offerings.
