Bank Loans Get New Front-End as Markit WSO Releases Credit Manager
Designed in partnership with CVC Credit Partners, the new tool provides investment data and workflow monitoring in a centralized blotter.
The application — which combines elements of Markit's Enterprise Data Management (EDM) platform as well as modular architecture for individual user-based customization — helps portfolio managers and credit analysts make investment decisions by centralising the data they need to select investments, monitor credit performance and identify risk.
Credit Manager streamlines credit selection with screening functions that filter investment opportunities based on technical and fundamental criteria. The system alerts users about changes portfolio holdings and provides collaboration tools to help investment teams coordinate their response if action is required. Dashboards in the application display portfolio level risk and performance information such as concentrations, relative value and weighted average metrics.
Like many firms in the space, CVC Credit's loans team has grown over time and diversified its covered geographies and holdings structures, creating the need to secure a more robust platform than the internal system the $13.2 billion shop was using previously.
“We operate in a dynamic environment, and we need to have access to sophisticated credit and portfolio analysis. Markit WSO Credit Manager gives us the tools we need to focus on managing risk and our portfolios," says Philip Raciti, managing director at CVC Credit Partners and a partner on the development of the tool.
End-to-End
Credit Manager adds a front-end element to Markit's comprehensive solution set for efficient end-to-end loan management. These include portfolio management services, loan pricing, loan indices, loan reference data, agent servicing portals, automated trade settlement, loan messaging hubs, counterparty identifiers and data and front office solutions.
“Credit Manager puts loan information at the fingertips of investment teams so they can spend less time assembling data and more time understanding movement in this complex market," says Mark Schultis, managing director and head of WSO at Markit. "With this expansion, Markit provides an integrated solution for the entire asset management enterprise, helping investment professionals and operations teams work together efficiently.”
Waters will be bringing readers an update on back-end developments in the loans space in the coming days. Stay tuned.
