Changing regulatory and risk management requirements mean firms are grappling with larger, and vital, data sets, says Stephen Engdahl, senior vice president of product strategy for GoldenSource.

Enter GoldenSource OnDemand, an outsourced IT solution that gives each firm its own dedicated environment run through the vendor's private cloud. Users can scale up or down depending on demand, and increase speed to market as regulations change.

"Firms are now asking themselves, ‘How can I get something done quickly, in budget, and get a return in a reasonable amount of time?’" he says. "So we are delivering the GoldenSource platform through a different delivery system that frees the customer up to focus only on what's important to them: the data."

GoldenSource is seeing a great deal of interest coming from the buy side firms looking to outsource time-intensive data management processes in order to focus on analyzing the data.

"Historically, the buy side hasn't invested in data management platforms, but that is changingwe're seeing a lot more interest there," he says. "Buy-side firms are really studying their investment processtheir focus has to be there. So where they can, they are looking to outsource to improve returns to their investment process."

GoldenSource says that while it will handle the mission-critical data management infrastructure, the end user will have full authority over data, data quality, and data vendor relationships. In addition, GoldenSource will provide IT support, change management, testing and monitoring services.
